I found this picture that you posted in a thread. I zoomed in and I can see the black external breather hose dropping behind the football cover and then runing rearward. Can you tell me where the hose goes to after that? Where is the end of the hose?

Zoomed...

Also, can you please explain how these "breather bolts" work? Is the oil vented to the air right at the bolt? Does it create a mess?

Go to their web site. Some of the hoses just dead end with nothing. Some of the kits include filter.
Some of the breather bolts have holes in them, the fumes are sucked into the engine to be burned. Others I have seen have a "grove" cut into the backing plate that let the fumes into the engine.

Hope this helps.

this is My set-up.
The breather that WAS vented back into the engine is diverted to the atmosphere or a catch can.
depending on the year bike the bypass is either at the bolts themselves or inside the AC housing.
I'm thinking as you can't see the bolts it's inside the Air Cleaner.

This is mine I bought an extra set of vent tubes, drilled them through so the tubing would fit on the barbed bolt

head. Then ran the tubing to the breather/catch can. Breather is attached to the highway bar with
a plastic coated p-clamp that they use to attach the lowers on the baggers.

I suspect that all back plates have holes in them that have to be plugged if one decides to go with an external breather. While I really like the idea of not venting the heads to the throttle body, I just do not see any clean way to do it. Does anyone make a back plate that does not have holes for the breathers?

I would go with the breather bolts that have filters in them sold by DKCustoms, if I could find an air intake that didn't already have ports in them for the breather tubes.

Other than that, I think I will go with an air intake that has integrated breather tubes and just dump the oil into the throttle body.

Where is the oil going? Into the cannister below the small filter? If so, can you tell us how much oil accumulates in it?

What is that filter for? Is air being sucked into that filter or is oil and air pushed out through that filter?

There is very little oil. Its mostly water. (condensation) I get about a 1/4 of shot glass worth after a day of riding. The filter is actually venting the positive pressure produced by the motor when it is running.

Its not straight oil that is being collected. What travels through the breather holes is a vapor. Moisture and trace amounts of oil. When that vapor condenses, it’s sort of like a watered down chocolate milk. That filter you see allows that vapor to be released into the air. The can helps collect what part of that vapor has time to condense.

If you run a breather tube to the ground, you will not be coating the road behind you in oil like a cartoon. You won’t even notice anything on the bike.

Thanks for that.

I think I found one that I like and that has all the things I want....

1)Uses the breather bolts that I like so no oil will be dumped into the throttle body.
2)No external tubes hanging down.
3)Dont have to plug any holes in the backplate.
4)No obstructions in the throttle body
5)Transparent. And since no oil is dumped into the throttle body, it should remain clean. (I think)

I like this one.
(What are the screw and two small magnet like things for?)
