A guy I work with ordered push rods from boardtracker about 3 weeks ago. He emailed and they said that the order is going to be shipped in a few days. So we'll see what happens there. I just ordered a few things from surdyke yesterday. Their prices seem similar to where boardtracker was at. What can you say about shipping cost...it is what it is...we have the right to shop elsewhere. As long as I get my stuff in a reasonable amount of time I'll be a repeat customer.
Im really going to miss Boardtracker, Ive been using them exclusively for years without any trouble. I got to know Anthony well and customer service has never been an issue. I sure hope they make it back. I need parts regularly..
I've always used Surdyke and have never had a problem, even with a couple returns I had to make recently due to my own brain farts. Lately their time to deliver has been great, at least for the stuff I've ordered. From order placement to my front door has been 6 to 7 days. They'll always be my goto online dealer.
Crap, I ordered something from boardtracker a month ago. I guess I’ll not see it. Good thing PayPal will refund me. I’ll give it another week or so before filing a claim...
If you're looking at buying through DiscountESP.com, it is.
DiscountESP is a website run by JHD Holdings, which also owns Boardtracker. The plans they sell are financially backed by JHD, meaning if you make a claim, it comes out of JHD's pocket. That also means that JHD has a direct financial incentive to deny a claim. Given their current financial troubles, that could very well effect how likely a consumer is to have any judgement calls fall against him.
In theory, there is also a back up insurance policy in place to protect consumers in the event JHD becomes insolvent, but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to think that actually collecting on a claim under those circumstances would be difficult.
Personally, knowing nothing more than I've learned from various news accounts of the court filings by HD against JHD Holdings, I wouldn't send a penny of my money their way.
I wouldn't place an ESP with them for a while if I were you.
I've ordered stuff from both Boardtracker and Surdyke.... Looks like Surdyke will be choppin high cotton now that Boardtracker is down for the count. We will see what Surdyke does with prices since one of their main competitors appears to be biting the dust.
Hey Surdyke, you are watching this thread. What say you?
