Default Air cleaner cover insert

I bought an air cleaner off a 103 High Output bike from a member on this board and put it on my 09 Road King which is a 96 inch bike. I didn't buy the air cleaner assembly to try to fool anyone into thinking my bike had a 103, I just liked the looks of the newer style air cleaner more than I liked the old football style air box. There are other inserts available pretty cheap for about $20 but they do not have the cut out for the mounting bolt so I would have to pry them off and reapply 3M tape every time I take my air filter out. So I think I am just going to take the insert off and paint it but I tried to pull it off and it is really stuck on there.
What holds the insert on the cover? I am assuming its 3M tape but it seems like its really bonded on there. Any suggestions?

Edited to add pic.

Grab it on the outside edge and pull. It's actually held on by velcro

Use heavy duty Velcro to attach your new insert. My Screamin' Eagle insert is fastened with Velcro.

I took my insert off just because I wanted to try the plain look. If I recall correctly, that insert doesn't use velcro because it gives access to the mounting bolt. The ones that block the bolt use velcro for sure.. The 3M tape on mine made it very hard to remove the insert. I had to damage the insert to get it to release but I wasn't overly careful since I knew it wasn't going back on. It took a good 45 minutes with Goo-Gone and the edge of an old credit card to get all the residue off the air cleaner itself.

I cant believe it's Velcro, that thing is on there tight. If its 3M what about heating it up with a hair dryer before I pull it off to try to avoid damaging the insert?

That should help, you could also do it after a ride while the engine heat gets that part hot when no wind is cooling it down.

The 103 emblem is taped on, the replacements from Harley use "3M™ Dual Lock™ Reclosable", similar to velcro, so you can remove it to access screw.

That could be. Mine says 103 but has no hole in it. Just kinda snaps into place and held tight with Velcro. Apologies for the bum steer Bubba Z

If you want to get fancy, blast it with a heat gun rather than a hair dryer. It works much quicker, but if it's 3M, either way you'll need Goo-Gone for the residue.

That ones different than mine. The 103 velcro's on and is solid, doesn't have the bolt hole. Never seen one like your before!
