Hey everyone...
My name is Dennis and I am from McCordsville, Indiana andlast week I bought a 2007 Heritage Softail Classic.. I also have a 2004 Honday VTX 1800 that I plan on selling. I really love my Softail, however my wife says she is really crowded behind me, unlike the Honda.Plusany bumps on the road is really noticable Of course part of owning a Harley is spending time with my wife on the road (Especially when my 5 year old starts school), so it kind of concerns me.. Does anyone know if there is any difference when it comes to passenger comfort between the Softail Classic and the Road King? If there is substancial difference between both, I have no problem sucking up the cost of trading up after only a week.
I own a Deluxe and love it to bits, however my wife is the same as yours and seems not to enjoy our trips at all due to bumps and wind from the front. We have the touring seat and that does not seem to help much so I am about to change to a glide (same as the road king I guess), everyone and his dog tells me the touring range is much better ride due to the suspension on the back being completely different and air adjustable to suit.
I cant leave it at that! As Chopper Reid say's;HARDEN THE **** UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I"m 46 my wife is 45 and we just walked in the door after a 450km ride on a 2006 softail standard,no special anything,no problem. It's not that we are tuff, but come on u guys??????????????????????????????????????/
Everybody is different. Been riding since the seventies, and after riding five yearson a Softail Custom, my wife is very happy with the ride of the e-glide. Harden up, maybe, but we aint as young as we used to be. The best advice I could give you before you lay out your money is to rent the Road King and take her on a trip, then decide.
