Default Bar/cable question

So Looking at upgrading the bars on my 19 SGS. Was looking at the 12" mini apes. Went to dealer and guy said anything 12" or less is 4 hours labor went back to same dealer yesterday and was told anything over stock is 8 hours because wires need to be extended. Now alot of my research has told me that the newer models have enough slack pinned up that you can go to 12" without having to extend. What's everyone's experience with this. On that note, my stealership charger 125.00/hr labor. That seems excessive. I was basically quote 2k to change the bars.

I'm looking at a 19 SGS as well. I was told 12's fit perfectly fine without adjustments of cables or wires, I planned on watching a couple of youtube videos from a Harley dealer and doing it myself.
Wilkins Harley-Davidson has a video on youtube of one of their techs swapping 14's on a SG.

HD has the wire extensions, plug and play for like $35 bucks.

My opinion that's all dealers try to do, that's why I try and do most everything on my own. Service manual and making sure its done right is the key.

If you allow them to. Changing out bars is very simple. Dealerships have never ripped me off, cause they don't touch my bike. And you don't need to be anything close to a mechanic, to lengthen wires and cables if need be. I'd suggest running the wires in your bars while you're at it.... really cleans up the bars.
