Honestly, skip Skyline Drive. Its approx 100 miles of the same views over and over and over again. Its like youre taking the same damn curves after a while.
Be sure to ride to the top of Mount Mitchell!!

Wife and I just got back from a nice ride on the parkway. She suggested eating at Mabry Mill and it was pretty darn good and the ride was great as always!!!
Enjoy your trip to OP and any others that venture to some of the sweetest riding a soul can find this side of the Mississippi.

Amen brother.
We started out today running some errands on the bike in Weaverville. We ended up in Hot Springs for some wings and a brew. We left to go home and some how ended in Tennessee near Erwin city. Pretty much any road here is a hoot to ride. Many miles and smiles to go.

Agreed, rode from Asheville to Hot Springs, cool little town then rode the Rattler 209 into Maggie Valley. Not a bad road in the area.
Hi Guys
we just got back from americade/Gettysburg/skyline drive from Ottawa. It was one of my bucket list rides and didn't disappoint. Wife was tired of riding but Gettysburg was her idea so skyline was mine. Now she admits it was well worth it. Ran home in the rain now sitting with a cold and afib. I might have overdone it. It was perfect weather for us with I assume is cool for Virginia this time of year.
Steve
Not sure if this is already mentioned, but if you pay $80 for the annual National Park Pass for one car or motorycle
For seniors it is $80 lifetime or $20 annual pass,,,,,, free for current military.....you can get into all National Parks for a year, we rode the Skyline after Rolling Thunder and will be going to Sturgis and the N-parks out there so the $80 makes sense if yo go to other parks
