The throttle is fine, i'm sure of it. I'm so used to rolling it back that it's no problem at all. I've got the **** turned all the way to the left, the throttle just doesn't snap back. Well, on a really hot day, it will roll back slowly on it's own.. [&:]

You may also want to look at the primary chain tension.

Check the basics first like the primary chain adjustment or the guide worn out.

Would that have anything to do with the noise i'm hearing?

Nope, just happens when I get on it hard, or under any other such load. For an idea of what it sounds like, I thought it was the 'shells' of my gas caps vibrating against the inner part at first, but then the other day I opened the throttle up (my throttle doesn't roll back itself) then took both hands and held the gas caps, and still heard the noise...so ruled that out.
It is pre-detonation.... I guarantee it !

I gotta socond the predetonation, espiecialy if you been using 87[:@]. Yor ape install is probably pinching your throtle- idle cables somewere along the line. I would take the tank off, or loosen it and, check the cables again and see if that helps [sm=signs003.gif]

Detonation. Another way I've heard it discribed is draging a screwdriver over the fins on the jugs and letting them ring. Check the timing.

Why I suggested the primary chain.

Removing the primary chain inspection cover and poking in their boney digit to lift up and down on the primary chain would not be THAT far out of a task to complete.
It's free, and only takes a few minutes to do. No speculation, no guessing and you accomplish a maintenance task to boot.

IF then you still get the rattle can you can move onto a difficult task of tuning a carburetor..................which for a neophyte is a much harder thing to do.

Just my two cents.
