Incorrect 2020 Sturgis dates posted

If you've made reservations check your dates. Incorrect dates of 7/31 - 8/9 were published on some sites. The correct dates are 8/7 - 8/16.

I read this and thought how can anyone get confused as the rally is always the first week in Aug?
So in 2020 that would mean the Rally would be Aug. 3-9 with Aug. 1-2 being the pre-Rally weekend.

Then I read the article that Rizzo linked to and see that the Sturgis City Counsel changed the start of the Rally in 2017 to the first Friday in August and added 3 days to the Rally.
I don’t know why they had to change it from a 7 day event to a 10 day but I imagine revenue had something to do with it.

For those however that booked rooms from July 31-Aug 9 and can’t change them they may be in for an unexpected treat.
The Pre-Sturgis week IMO is the best week to be in the area if you like to ride and enjoy all the Black Hills has to offer.
Then after a week of riding and enjoying the Hills you get to experience the first 3 days of the Rally which for most is probably enough.
