I just bought a 2000 Electra Glide with fuel injection.. the bike has only 16988 miles. The previous owner didn't do much riding and hadn't been run on the streets the past two years. It started up but ran rough. I ran the fuel it had in it and filled the tank with fresh fuel. It stalled a couple of times and now it won't run. Cranks over, but won't fire up. Replaced the plugs, wires, new air filter and even put raw fuel down the cylinders. Same issue. Where do I look from here?
Possible the tank had some water in it from sitting for 2 years? If so you sucked water into the chamber when you ran the old gas through it. Its always a good idea to get rid of the old gas when you have a bike sitting a while like that.
If you have spark(?) pull all the gas and the plugs. Dump a half can Sea Foam or Berrymans B12 in the tank, and fill it with new gas, (premium). Charge the battery (unless it is up) and see if you can make it start. If you can let it run even if it runs bad. Hopefully it will clear out? Good luck.
I am a hard *** about buying factory manual, but you are more ******** than me.
Guessing something gunked up. But guessing.
But check to make sure you got spark. Can see if plugs wet, but at some point probably need to check pressure.
Codes?
Did it fire with gas in cylinder? Never tested Harley this way, but small engines. Same idea.
Yeah, my bad. Your post was far more informative and helpful than any factory service manual could be.
