I went from the 888’s back to the Stock Dunlop’s... and actually like them better 90% of the time.
Hate to say this but so far I've been fairly impressed with the stock dunklops that came on the 17 but I haven't had them in heavy water yet either. And no that isn't a typo

I had them In Some rain on the way back from Vancouver, seemed fine.... Where I find the Metzlers better is in 80+mph sweepers, the Dunlop’s like to wander a bit. But most of the time they make the bike easier to handle, because you don’t have to input as much as you have to do to the stickiness of the 888’s which I find you have to Ride more.... sort of like Power Steering on older cars, easier to drive, but you won’t feel the road as well, so the manual steering is more work, but better road feedback.
Historically, and I mean '18 and up, if it said H-D on the tire is wasn't going to be a good tire but was a $mart in$tallation for the MoCo. I switched to Avons for the swap outs miles in all kind of weather, including dry weather running in the Black Hills recently and have been pleasantly satisfied; just be mindful of Avon's TP recommendations contra to H-D's. But old habits do die slowly and I just order a set of Avon Chromes for the low miles '08 Bat Bob I recently picked up as a Daytona Bar Hopper as\given that the tires are original.
I did contemplate putting those on my King this spring when I changed out the rims , but went with the Dunlop AE's because of their new design . They performed great through the Kootenay's and in the torrential down pours I had to deal with while I was there . Now only time will tell how long they will last .
I would still like to try a set of michelin's some day . Lots of positive reading out there . Keep us updated with your experience with them .
