Think Avon's, like a few other fun things in life once you try it you'll never go back. Only down side to Avons and cali is you'll never get the wet weather benefits from them, but they are a hell of a canyon carving tire.
My next rear tire just might be a Continental TKC 70 . This tire will take you wherever and whenever !
and if the tread on the front tire was the same as the rear , I would try both .

Avons were all I'd run a few years ago. In 2010 or so got caught in a rain on the Twisted Sisters here in Texas. The folks on Dunlop 402 and 404 had the crap sacred outta them on the curves.
2 bikes with Metzlers and at the next stop one of them asked me. " What tires are you running, you don't look to be having any trouble in this rain." Avons.
Not long after that ride I went to get new tire's. Avon had gotten a rep about the side walls cracking prematurely. Saw some examples of it locally. Went with MCII's and liked them. Not mention 12k plus mileage on a rear tire. Stuck with them till this last set. Got a heck of a deal on Dunlop American Elites.
Not many miles on them yet But like them just fine so far.
If the tire is a red head, it will break your heart and take half your stuff, and it will be the good half.... but man it will be one hell of a ride first.
