Default Fork finish

Bought the bike last year and the fork finish took a beating has anyone seen this before and is there anything to fix it?

Alot of rubbing, The deep nicks won't come out that way though. Start with 400 wet. Then do it all over with 600. Then do it again with 800. At this point you can shine em up. Any quality aluminum polish. Otherwise buy new ones.

Chrome them, powdercoat them, polish them, replace them are pretty much your options. You can search for polishing front forks and see how some have sanded and polished to bring them back. It takes some work

Another option is painting them. The 04 fatboy I had I sanded them down and painted them with black appliance epoxy paint. Those held up pretty well. Or on my 98 lowrider I sanded and sprayed them with silver metallic and layed clear coat over it.

Happened to my ‘94. I used sandpaper and polish to strip the clear coat and shine them up. After that I wiped them down with “Aluminum wheel protectant” available at the Harley-Davidson dealer. The corrosion never returned after that.

Mine have always done that, comes from use. I did watch YouTube videos on how to send, run polish whatever. I did purchase some aluminum protectant for my new19. Hopefully that will prevent that. I do ride in rain and when there is salt on the road before and after a snow.

I have been using the clear plastic film that they use on car front ends for years. Easy to do and it lasts for years. Detail shops have it in rolls and I buy a 1 foot piece for 5 bucks or I ask for any cutoffs.

I polish mine up with Mothers mag and aluminum polish. They look almost as good as chrome when I finish.

Take the time and polish them right. After that it's simple maintenance with "Never Dull". Shines nearly like chrome.
