How many keys did u get?
Likewise with a new bike. We tour, and while I have started mine using the code, I carry the spare FOB with the battery removed just in case we, 1) lose the FOB, 2) get so soaked the FOB shorts/quits, 3) Jump into a mountain stream when it is in the hundreds, with my FOB, but not my wallet still in my pocket.
This is a decision made by an accountant or an accounting firm, not a motorcycle company.
Bad decision on their part as far as I am concerned. The real question to ask however, is what other corners they have cut that we do not know about.
I used to think that lawyers would inherit the earth, how wrong I was, it is the accountants.
Added: If you have a security system, you ought to get not only two keys, but two FOBs as well. Many here are talking about keys while others mention FOBs. They are different and both are required to operate many Harley's, unless you have the time, usually ride alone, to enter your pin each time, while keeping off the bike, keeping your better half from trying to open the saddlebag or trunk, or if it is a god-damn downpour.
I prefer to use the FOB as it was designed. If you give me only one, I'm not going to buy that bike nor will I pay extra for a second FOB unless I lose it.
