When my buddies and I go for a several or more days ride, we always exchange an extra set of keys and fobs with someone else on the ride. It's too easy to misplace something like that on a long ride when we are out of our usual environments and do n't have our usual place to put our keys. If a new bike doesn't now come with two keys and fobs, I would have to add the cost of a second key or fob to the cost of the bike.
All NEW vehicles come with two keys. Every used bike I have ever bought has only come with one key. I've spent more money on keys and fobs at my local dealership than anything else.
I've gotten new cars that had 3, two regular and a so-called valet key,
everybody saying that they got 2 fobs, yeah, we get it. but you don't have 2020s. that's the point, they are only coming with one fob now. you still get 2 sets of keys. which honestly i don't know if it's that big a deal. since i first got my 2007 roadking (in 2007) i've gotten 2 fobs. that's 4 bikes. in all that time, i've never really needed the second fob. it just sits in a drawer in my den, with all the other spare keys. if a fob battery dies, i use the security override pin until i can get to the store to pick up a 2032 watch battery.
I got 2 keys and 2 fobs with my Limited. So far key and fob #2 are sitting in a cabinet where I keep all my second key sets. They haven't seen daylight since I took delivery of the bike.
