Exhaust welding

I want to have stainless 18mm bungs welded into a header. The closest custom exhaust shop near me is an hour away. I doubt any auto repair shop or Meineke muffler shop has the equipment needed to weld stainless. However there are a few welding shops near me that are supposed to be pretty good. They should be able to weld a couple of bungs on a pipe, wouldn't you think?

I guess I'm asking would you trust a regular welder to do this, or should I drive the two hours to a custom exhaust shop?

Anyone that Tig Welds can do it. Most Muffler shops use Mig.

Local metal fabrication/welder shop or an old school indy who does custom stuff, need a tig welder for that.

Why not just drive the two hours and get it done right, after all that money you spent on your bike what's a couple hours of driving.

Any Sheet Metal fabricator who can TIG Weld Stainless Sheet Metal will be able to do that job, best bet is to take the pipes off your bike and dont weld them on the bike Stuff That ,your Computer and or Alternator might Fry
