Thank you, it wasn't a huge expense for him but from experience I had. wheel bearings went out and took out the swing arm my ESP picked up the wheel bearing cost and my insurance took care of the rest. I will let him know he needs to press the issue no point in buying a warranty and then not being able to use it.

As a retired design engineer with nearly four decades of experience I will state unequivocally that radial ball bearings of any type have no business being used as wheel bearings in a heavyweight motorcycle.

One more reason I still wish I had my old Evo.

H-D wheel bearings are junk. IMO they are a critical safety item and change mine (only on Harleys) every tire change. They aren't that expensive and it gives me peace of mind. Query how much money the MoCo saved on each unit by putting their customers (and their customers' passengers) at risk due to Bean Countin' BS?

Yup, Harley's wheel bearings are considered "consumables."
Pathetic actually.
My rear bearing literally "sawn" the outer race in half...
Then ate into the bearing cavity inside the hub...

You mean “Timken” bearings. One set of mine lasted 127,000 miles, the other was still in the hub when I replaced the wheel at 200,000.

The other thing is that the Timken bearings have plenty of warning if they started to go. The new ball bearings can fail catastrophically with little warning, and that’s dangerous.
