I remember when the ole man hung up his helmet. It took years to get the keys.. lolol.. he still cleaned the bike and like having it around. I have the duo glide now. Goi g to williams / garden state for a mechanical semi restoration. Finishes are still orig. It could be a metric, it doesnt matter... it our dads bikes...

Wonderful story from S.t.r.a.n.g.e.r. What a good son. Also a great follow-up from FrankEV (reminds me of me). Never give up!

I like it that he says he's given it up, but you find miles on it every week.

Again, not trying to be dick as I think it is an awesome story, just a word of caution.
I'm aware.
His decision to ride without an endorsement was made years ago and he made that choice based on failing physical abilities.
I did my best to encourage him to ride legally.
He's a grown man, making adult decisions that I don't necessarily agree with.
Arthritis has already set into my bones and I can completely sympathize with his perspective.
His knees are shot, not his mind.

I won't say that there's no legal risk, there is, but he lives in the country and rides country roads where there's virtually no traffic.
He rides those roads specifically for that reason.
He is much more likely to hit a deer than be involved with another car.

His decision has been made, so has mine.
I appreciate your word of caution.

The nice responses are appreciated but I would like to think I didn't do anything that anybody else wouldn't have done in the same circumstances.
It just seemed like the right thing to do.

FWIW...
I've made an attempt to talk him into taking the Sporty back so he could do this...

Yeah, he's not buying it... Literally... he doesn't want to shell out the cash.
