This is an '06 model... rubber mount and carbed.
She is cold blooded and sounds great once she warms up with her first generation Screamin Eagle slip-ons.
She sounds so different from my 72.
I like the sound of both but for different reasons.
They both make me smile.

The desire was repressed nearly three decades but at the age of 73 and he gave in to "reason" and bought his first Sportster.
I commented about it on the forum at the time.

I go over once a week, pick up the bike, gas up the tank and set the odometer to zero.
When I return the following week, without fail, he's left evidence on the odometer that he's put miles on the bike... anywhere from 20 to 50 miles a week.
It's not many miles, but it's enough to make him smile and feel alive.
I love these stories. Thank you for sharing!

Priceless story and a good looking scoot. I can picture the smile your Dad has every time he throws a leg over and rides it.

Great story, made me smile and warmed this old mans heart.
But Dawg is right, so beware, I'd hate to hear of something happening to your Dad and you.

Great story, had a question about something you said in the OP

He had also let his motorcycle endorsement lapse years prior since he thought he his riding days were behind him.
His MC endorsement wasn't on his DL in Indiana? What I mean is, if he renews his DL, doesn't the endorsement automatically renew as well? Or does a MC rider have to do something additional to renew an endorsement? Reason I ask is I'm next door state wise, and in Ohio I've known people who went 30 years between riding, and continued to have a MC endorsement on their DL.

.
I lost my dad a few years ago to cancer. Before he died I tried to take him on his Road King one last time, but he was too weak and in too much pain...........

You are making your dad smile and feel alive. Keep it up. Remember......and cherish those memories.

When it's time to renew your DL and if you already have a motorcycle endorsement, they ask if you want to maintain the endorsement.
You can say yes or no... It's that simple.
At some point, my dad said NO!

So, no, you don't have to do anything special.
Just don't say no and you're good for as long as you want it.

That's how it is in Texas.
Like... -> did I hear you right? You ask if I wanted to give up my 'M" endorsement? nah, not today, tomorrow, or the next day.
