I’ve had none of those issues and I don’t mind the new jiffy stand personally. As for your gas issues it sounds like your vent needs an adjustment. You might find some answers in this thread.
I've ridden a variety of bikes for quite a few years. The previous Harley jiffy stand was the best and most functional side-stand in motorcycling. The new one reminds me of the one on my old Suzuki, with the same limitations. I have no idea why they went to this new design unless it's substantially lighter or cheaper to manufacture.
I suspect they hired designers who previously worked for Suzuki.

If you have no issues with the side stand could it be your only previous experience was with Japanese bikes? If so, you have never experienced just how good a side stand could be. I have and the new design sucks.

My only other complaint is that the new Softails are too much like the competition and not enough like a Harley-Davidson anymore.

Help me understand your cOmment, please explain explain??
is it because H-D’S have become more reliable? Handle better? Ride more comfortably? Are losing weight? Finally brought a bit of decades old technology to their bikes?
Those are just a few of the reasons that after a 17 year hiatus I’ve added a ‘19 Softail to my stable.
I only have the problem with the jiffy stand...and my bike's a 2019 Low Rider. I really don't like how it slides out and scrapes or digs into pavement.

hahahaha...too hard to look at my sig I guess. That’s just what’s in the garage now....many unlisted over the years. Plenty of decades on Harleys.
The new stand is not perfect and I always liked the old one, but I’ve had zero issues with it. Holds the bike up real well too...
I love how the OP is on his first Harley and has a big opinion versus a previous stand he’s never had...
knock yourselves out.
