I used to go to tractor pulls and mud bogs just to marvel at the gigantic sums of money that must have been poured into those machines. I've seen a few massive engine failures go down at those and I'm still amazed that no one got hurt from the scattering engine parts departing at high speed. Haha!

I knew velocity stacks were good for something.

Am I the first to admit that I laughed out loud ?

Well there you go. Next time run a good K&N air filter and that won't ever happen.

Closest thing I have seen to that was at Kennedale drags in the early 80's. Bout 100 feet off the line . Right in front of me. Guy running a Shovel. Rear jug blew off . Heard a loud pop and saw the rear head jump up and hit the center rail. Can't remember if it pull the studs out of the case or stripped the threads off of the studs. But. Catastrophic failure none the less. Thanks for sharing TB.

Seen the results of a few wrecked engines, why I'll never dyno one. Was with a bud when the front rod decided it wanted out on his 50's pan about 40mph. Yanked the wrist out of the piston and put it through the front of the cases busting the skirt off the front cylinder going by, was ugly.

I put a 1" X 3" hole in the quench area of a 440-1C head with an 18% nitro load when the altered frog hopped, the load/ unload/ load on the engine was enough for the nitro to find a weak spot and blow it out.
