Default Am I nitpicking too much?

Am I being too petty about this? Nitpicking too much?

I bought a brand new Harley, a 2020 model. First brand new bike, first brand new anything ever. Never owned anything less than a decade old before. I'm not sure how picky I should really be.

I went in to see the bike when it arrived at the dealership pre-prep. It looked great but the air cleaner and emblem had damage from a screwdriver slipping off a fastener at installation. I mentioned it 3 days later over the phone, and was told it would be taken care of. Fast forward 11 or 12 days to last night.

They delivered the bike to my house. I look it over when I get home and find the same damaged spots pretty obviously dobbed with paint. I called them immediately and they had me send pictures last night & this morning. The air cleaner and badge are cosmetic items on a focal point of the bike, not huge damage, but I'm going to see it every time I look at the bike.

I'm waiting to hear back about what will be done about it this time around.

I feel bad about it because they really bent over backwards to get the bike built at all, and even delivered it to my house for free, a full hour drive there and back. And yet... its new, paid in full, in cash, it ought to be right. Right?

The dealer should fix the damage. After all, you paid for a new bike and those scratches make it look like a used bike.

If you were showing me that after some time on the bike as a repair, I'd say....don't sweat the small stuff.

Brand new from the dealership, I'd have it right back up there. I know it ain't going to stay perfect, but it needs to be perfect from the start....or pretty darned near.

imho you are not being picky...if you were my customer, I'd shoulder up with you and agree...and have this fixed ASAP
