Some people come in not knowing what they want and sometimes leave with a vehicle that they never even considered. Sometimes they want to get their finances set in advance. We give people our best rate and then they can go shop us. If they get a better rate just bring a check in. Had a guy come in to buy a Prius and he left in a Sequoia. I told him explicitly that I don't want a phone call from his wife. Then had a lady come in to buy a Pickup and she left in a Prius. Had a State Dept guy come in to get a small suv for his wife. He always buys black. I said what color does your wife want and he said red. He says I can't do red. I said your wife wants red surprise her. Then I said you can start all over with another person. He took the red one and called me back to say thanks. We're all not dirtbags.

I made the mistake of putting money fown on a bike once. I found s better deal i. The mean time. So i went back to the guy with my money to see if they would meet the better price. Of course they said no. So when i asked for my money back. They had a friend come post on here my name and phone number snd talk trash about me. So i learned a lesson. Its ilegal not to give your money back. I had no clue what this place was capable of by doing what they did. So i lost but slso l learned a lesson about dealers. I wouldnt put anything on own on anything at this point!
To give an update it seems the dealer was telling the truth. They did replace the tire and had the bike ready for me to ride. I ended up not buying it. It was an 2002 Heritage Softail with a 95 kit in it and an updated cam chest with cams. The funny thing with the bike was that the check engine light was on all the time on the speedometer. They said that was due to it being an international model and it having a tuner on it. The speedometer was in MPH, I would have thought any international models would have had it in KPH. I did like the bike but I passed on it because that didn't seem right to me and I couldn't find any information about that being a cause. They did give the deposit back without issue. Now back to finding another bike or upgrading my current 2003 Road King into what I want.
This past summer my stepson was in the market for a used truck. He had found a few on line that were what he wanted. One of them was priced a couple of thousand below the others and had lower mileage and looked to be in better, almost new condition. He couldn't get off work for a few days. He was afraid it might be sold before he could get there. I told him I would go look at it and put a deposit on it if it was as good as it looked. It was 3 hours from us. Anyway I looked the truck over and was asked if I wanted to drive it. Naw, this a well cared for truck. I would like to put a deposit down to hold it until he can come down and do the paper work in 3 days. They said no, they don't take deposits, but you can do the paperwork for him and he can sign it later. I thought this was unusual but said ok and went through everything including a loan app. It was a reputable dealer. I mentioned that the truck was priced quite a bit lower than the competition. The salesman said we are a no haggle dealer, we price everything fairly for the customer and us. I finished the deal and told them my son and I will be in on Thursday to sign and pick up the truck. They said "you don't have to do that, we will deliver it" Three hour drive one way to deliver a used truck? Wow, you could have pushed me over with a feather. They gained me as a customer for my truck and wife's SUV for service or whatever. We have no intention of buying anymore vehicles but if so, I know where I am going. All dealers might look at this as part of their business model. I also once bought a car at a good dealership that had a model that had just come out. Other dealers had marked them up over MSRP, this one gave me a discount. The salesman didn't even have to check with the sales manager to aprove the sale. He said we have the authority to do our own deals. I also asked him why they were willing to give a discount when other dealers were marking them up? He said we don't just want to sell you this car but we want you to come back. If I were to want a car I would be back there for sure.

Might be slightly off topic but a good friend of mine went to a dealer to buy a Yamaha something years ago and asked to take it for a test ride. Took the thing out for half an hour! They were pissed and told him they just about called the cops. The only reason they didn't was he left his car there. He listened to them **** and moan for a couple of moments then handed them the asking price in cash! That chilled them right out!
...RCHD used to have some of the best demo days. They'd have a ride leader & sweep. would ride a really nice 12-14mile course through part of Cuyahoga Valley by the old Valley View Golf Course, down Sackett, Cuyahoga Falls Ave., etc. Would go to alot of their demo days, they were great. Now, for the last couple of years they just want you to ride a bike one mile down the road, turn around and come back. WTF? It isn't a f'kin demo ride like that at all. Haven't even been back there for a few years now. All good things must come to an end.
