Depending on what you're riding, keep an eye on your fuel gauge and know where the fuel stops are on (or near) the Trace.
I would also avoid travelling too early in the AM or too late in the PM.
It seemed to me that during the week some locals may be using the Trace as a commuter route and those folks definitely were doing a lot more than the posted speed limits.
I really enjoyed Mississippi. Son and I rode down from Memphis through the delta region- Clarksdale is the real blues region! Juke joints and all!! Maybe you could work out a loop that gives you Natchez trace one way and delta through clarksdale on the other. We also managed to get some Ozarks in the mix (bentonville and eureka springs (pig trail).
I agree with the above I would suggest the Trace south from Nashville to Natchez then on the return Hwy 61 North toward Vicksburg and on into the MS Delta. I live just North of Jackson MS and ride the Trace a good bit feel free to reach out to me as to any info on the Southern part.
We ride it from Nashville south into Mississippi for about 138 miles. It was beautiful. But...slow going, and as I remember, not many services near it. So, plan accordingly.
Edit: It was a beautiful ride, but Id find a different return rather than riding it round trip.

I live about 4 miles from the trace in mid Tn. Watch for cops, 5 over doesnt work for them on the trace. Also make sure DOT helmets as they will stop you for that as well. Its a nice ride but it is slow going and the deer are everywhere.
