Default where do i get something anodized..?

i wanna do some black spokes and the ones that i've found online are kind of expensive.

where/what would i look for (say in the yellow pages) to get a set annodized?

and is it expensive........cost prohibitive?

Not sure, but that is one sweet ride you have waterman!

I would think it would be cost prohibitive. Not only would you have to buy the spokes, then you'd have to get them anodized, then you have to get them trued and put back in the rim (might have to buy a new rim too!) Doing your own spokes would be very time consuming (and potentially dangerous), and would probably be pricey.

Do some shopping. I bought some wheels on Ebay for about $800 for the pair, and they were 18"x3.5" f/r, powdercoated rims, and twisted chrome spokes (DNA wheels). I don't think anodizing them would be that expensive, but the time/cost to get them put back on like mentioned above could come close to that.

Good luck!

thanks

but...spokes are pretty cheap (especially stock ones) and people do it all the time.....and why would i need a new rim??

besides, i'm not gonna re-lace it myself (i'll have a shop do it)

i just want black spokes, not any crazy powdercoated twisted bling rims. no offense but it's not exactly the look i'm going for.

i just don't know who or what kind of shop to source out to have them anodized.

Well there is the real issue, disposal. Those chemicals are considered "hazardous materials", you just can't dump that stuff on the ground, or take them to the local land fill site. If you're fortunate enough to have a Haz-Mat dump site or Haz-Mat drop off point, then you're good to go. If not you might be hanging on to that stuff for a very long time.

You're right, the spokes are cheap, but anodizing them might not be! I also said you MIGHT need a new rim, I didn't mean for you to construe that as you HAD to get one!

Like I said, having someone re-lace the wheels is no problem, but you have to add that into your total cost.

Also, I wasn't saying you should get the wheels that I got, I was just reflecting the price I paid to have made (actually I wasn't going for a twisted spoke initially, and I don't think there would be any benefit to you since youare anodizing them....)

Check with a local chrome shop. Even if they won't do it they may know someone who will.

I agree with the Chief. Also you might try a local Powder Coater, There is a place here in Santa Ana (Embee)that does all three, Chrome, Powder, and Anodizing.
