IF... you purchased this bike with active factory warranty , then just throw a stage 2 with ALL SE parts ( keep the warranty). You will be happy and ( protected) from an unfortunate, and unexpected claim. It sounds like you are not equipped, or willing to do a major engine tear down if you encounter a problematic bike (chances are you wont, BUT you just don't know, **** happens.

I've never had a bike under warranty so I would say do what you want. Maybe if it was me, I'd wait or go SE to keep that warranty. I just feel that people seem so paranoid & if you're expecting something bad to happen it usually does. If you're buying a brand new bike & have money to burn then don't worry about it.

Why don't you ride the bike for a year and see how it performs? If anything's going to go wrong it will likely be in that first year, or at the very least you'll have a feel for how reliable the bike is.
If all goes well, do what you want to the motor and to hell with the warranty. If you have to use the warranty in the first year maybe its wise to wait until it expires before dumping a bunch of money into it.

I have a '17 SG with an ESP. The upper half of my engine needed to replaced this past summer. That would have cost about 3k. My cost....$50.

You're going to love the power from that engine. Maybe forgo the upgrades and enjoy it for a while. You may find it's all you want and need.

The problem I have with warranties is that if something significant goes wrong, it is just going to be replaced with the same crap that didn't perform in the first place.
Screw it. Build what you know will work. Ride 'em Cowboy.

Is Harley Davidson still selling and/or installing Screaming Eagle performance improvement products since the EPA crackdown and fine?

Yes, but everything they install is EPA compliant. The Screaming Eagle stuff is, now it is anyway. They used to have the Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (off road non compliant) and the Street Tuner (compliant), now they only will sell the ST and any tune they do will have to be EPA compliant which will keep the warranty in tact... to my understanding anyway.

I voided my 2018 Warranty within a couple weeks of buying it. Between then and now, there were no warranty issues for me anyway. It's expired now, but it turns out even if I kept it stock I wouldnt have needed the warranty.

Now that I think about it, at one point I did had some leaking gaskets. For the life of me I cant remember if that was before or after I did some work and went with an aftermarket tune, but it was covered under warranty. They said it was a known issue and they had upgraded gasket kits going out to dealers because of it, so that may have had something to do with it.

If you don't like Harley Davidson motorcycle, why did you buy one? Seems to me you would have been better off buying a suitable aftermarket frame that would probably be stronger, get the engine you really want instead of modifying an "obviously inferior engine". Why else would you be modifying? Get the front and rear suspension, proper brakes, and all the rest to have a true custom bike not a modified or personalized HD.

It's not about warranty although I would imagine a new S&S engine would have one, it's about "making it yours". Get rid of the HD "POS" and build you a "real bike".
