Maybe that's because we do more riding than just a mile up the road to the closest bar.
Don't dress for the ride. Dress for the slide.....

Not many ride these big heavy adventure bikes on serious off road anyway. It’s more like on paved roads and maybe some well maintained gravel forest service roads. I wrestled my BMW F650 GS Daker in some heavy mud in the Philippines. That **** is exhausting. I don’t do that anymore.
Yes thats true...probably explains why the newest bike in my garage is a1982FLH........but lets be honest, HD aint gonna race this behemoth and if you have ever tipped over on a steep hill climb and tried to get back on...your gonna wish you were on a 250cc.......looking at the KTM it has a front guard that covers the front wheel well enough plus a cowl that covers the bottom of the radiator as well . only time will tell.........as far as the Dakar Rally is concerned the limit is 450cc...i still think HD could have an opening somehow in the future as i woudnt be concerned about engine reliability as last year both Honda and Yamaha engines failed, robbing the American Ricky Brabec of a win, but he looks the goods this year to take it out, so long as his Honda is up to it
If we're really honest lets look at the people who will buy this bike. I bet 90% of them will never leave the pavement and the ones that do wont be on any serious trails.

Just like 90% of the SUVs sold never see anything more off road than a gravel driveway. Its all about looking tough and adventurous. In other words posing.
They're like the rough and ready Hummers we'd see in northern Michigan. Most were from Lansing and Grand Rapids. They needed to get down their 300ft.dirt driveway to their "cottage". I've seen some bikes on fire roads but I've also seen minivans on the same roads.

Harley already makes the jacket, check out the FXRG. Not sure if they make the pants or not.
But regardless, I already have my Klim gear so if and when I buy one of these bikes I won't need new gear for a while
