At a local dealer gathering this past Saturday, sweat was rolling off of everybody, and here comes this guy to his bike, puts on his nylon jacket and then his leather vest over it, and rides off. I thought to myself, "I hope he doesn't pass out from the heat before he gets to where he is going." N.C. in July and August can be sweltering.

The only time I have ever seen a motorcycle rider in leather pants was at the San Fransico Gay Pride parade.

You didn't list mesh pants. They let air in, have armor, are a lot tougher than denim in a slide and they are cut specifically for riding.

Bunch of manufacturers make them: Firstgear, Tour master, Joe Rocket etc.

Welcome to the forum, I'm in England too. On the odd day it does get hot here (plus dry) I wear jeans (dragginor other). So if I was in the southern, very hot states of the US in their summer, I'd not wear leathers.

Denim for sure, and if it gets to cold, I'd rather be able to put on some long johns under jeans than not be able to take off leather[:@]To darn sweaty
