hey guys i only put this out there just to see what i got back. just for the fun of it. i know mine is off by 5 but i dont care it is what it is my 07 road king was off by 5 as well and the people i ride with is the same. was hoping a harley tech would shed some light on it. thats all i was looking for. i googled it and found what i was looking for. cheers
Off by 5 at what speed? It would only be off 2.5 at half that speed or off 10 at twice that speed, that's how speedometers work. They aren't just off a certain number across the dial.
i called a friend of mine and he is a harley tech. he told me that its was 2 things causing it.1. it was a dsign in the head to be off at apx 2 to 3 present for a harley CYA affect 2 was built into the speed sensor in the trans for a another 1 to 2 % and that to was built into the sensor. and he said the sensor in the trans could go either way so it could be a - or + % in the trans sensor. he said most people dont even notice it. but it is there. i was told so some could have it the + and the + or it could be the + and - or the - and -. it just the way it was designed. that is exactly what i was told make since?? i know i had to think about a little bit, but there ya go plus you can ask this on google it hits a little on both.
If you have a new bike and the speedo is running 5mph faster than you are actually going, that means your odometer is racking up more miles than you are actually riding. This would make your warranty mileage reached sooner than it should be.

My 19 come with 2 year unlimited mileage so that doesn't matter.
