The original Dunlop was a great tire. I have no complaints at all. The brand new one rides just as nice. I'm not some super experienced pro driver though, so any nuances or advantages might be lost on me.

The original was on when I bought it at 6500 miles. I replaced at about 19500. I'll be happy if I get 12-15k miles from this one.

If you read and take the opinions of everyone here regarding OEM tires, you will actually learn nothing...except that some think OEMs are da bomb and some hate them. There is no way it can be both the worst tire in the history of tires as well as an amazing tire for a great price.

Darn you are correct. I don't see it either. I did see the same 19" front as I saw this morning but turns out it was for the Rocker models.

Pretty simple, actually.

It's replacing an old tire with a new tire. A new tire is always going to be a better tire. Nearly always, anyway. It better be, right ?

Generally speaking, everybody here replaces HDs' Dunlop tires on their HDs. Frequently with Metzelers. A brand new Metzler BETTER be better than an old tire. But nobody here replaces old Metzler with a new Dunlop.

But my buddy has a Guzzi that had Metzlers on it. When he replaced the old Metzler with a new Dunlop he LOVES the Dunlop. He bought another Guzzi (nice bike, btw) and immediately put Dunlops on it.

I've put Dunlop American Elites on a few times in the last quarter-million miles and I've gotten unbelievable mileage out of them. I know I've gotten 30,000 miles out of the front tires, but my tire guy is convinced I got 30,000 miles out of a rear after looking at my record. I couldn't believe it but I can't find a receipt in between those two replacement, so he could be right. Like I said UNBELIEVABLE mileage. I do have a lot of freeway miles, but I also scrape the footboard alot when I'm not on the slab.

But, as they say, your mileage may vary...
