I am not new to riding but I have bought my first HD. 2011 Ultra Classic. Here is my issue. I can not ride further than 10 miles without getting burns. As many bikes I have had in the past, never has one given me burns. A 30 miles trip turned into 2nd degree burns. I called the dealership who told me that was just the way they were engineered?!?!?
I want to keep the bike, but I did not get it to look at, but to ride. Any advise on how to make it run cooler so I can ride without wearing a heat suite?

I had an 08 Road Glide that I bought used and it ran real hot, mostly heat from the rear cylinder/exhaust. I knew it needed a tune but I never planned to keep the bike.
Had one on every bike I have had since I first learned of them, about 10 or 12 years ago. The CC surely makes a difference. I have one on both current bikes.
I wish I know what I could be doing wrong. I didn't ride to Daytona this week because it is a 45 minute ride. I have been riding for 40 years, this is my first HD. Not sure what I could be doing wrong. It is mainly on the right side but the left is very hot as well. My husband has a 2015 and it is awesome. I have been told it is with is engine?? I am not sure, like I said new to Harleys.
