Default Love these tires!

nine11c2 - Thank you for sharing this post. Until this morning there were no reviews on the Michelin Commander III on HDF.

I took the plunge last week and got Michelin Commander III installed both front & rear at the local H-D dealership. Here are some of my initial thoughts & hope this helps someone out there.
Bike: 2016 FLHTCU
Previous tires: Dunlop OEM
Mileage: 18K
These tires are very smooth much like your Michelin car tires. I did some research on YouTube & read HDF about MC II for some background. I rode about a hundred miles on the highway and am very satisfied.
The biggest difference is that the ride is quiet and these tires hold very well. Cornering is extremely smooth; you will notice the difference when you roll your bike in the garage.

My biggest concern was that these would increase the ride hight but it seems to actually be slightly lower than the Dunlops. From YouTube videos you can see that these tires are more rounded than before and also that the tread is much thicker than MC II. I have not ridden in the rain yet but would highly recommend these.

Here are some pictures & questions are welcome!

[QUOTE=golfblues;19011681]got to agree that the metz's sucked. I had them on my Heritage and you couldn't give them to me for free now. I went to the cobras on the Heritage and they were great and then Cobra Chrome's on my 06 Softail Standard and they are excellent in all departments. Haven't had a Michelin experience yet[/QUOT

My experience with Metzler was not good either, didn't feel all that different and only got about half the mileage out of them. First the rear was bald in no time then the front developed cracks. That's what I call junk, 0 for 2. So far the michelin commander 2 has served me best, I'll try the commander 3's next time.

Dunlops and Michelins are a harder tire and should give a better ride and more miles if your a flatlander. Metts just plain suck imho....if you ride the twisties and flatlands Avon Cobras are the best by far...a little softer to give more bite in the turns and great ride on the flat straight roads...but not as many miles as the harder tires. Truly does matter where and how you ride to find the perfect tire. Just my .02$

We have a lot of curves on the road in the NE. I've had friends with Avons prefer the Metzeler 880. I haven't driven the Avon Cobras but if I get as much quick movement and lay down grip out of the Michelin III's on the big heavy Streett Glide I'm goood!

Thanks for the review! I have C-II's on the bike now that need replacing because they are out of date and was debating the C-II vs. C-III.

I think I'll try the C-III's this time around

On my '08 Roadie

Just took off a pair of Commander II's. It was either the tire or the Ride on Gel but the bike handled like a dump truck! Never happier to swap tires. Previous to that were Elite III's which in hindsight I liked.

Metzler 888 now and forever back to Dyna Beads. Hope the 888 don't suck as bad as some say. Years and years of quality work behind them. Kinda suck if they wen't downhill

Which Continental tire are you running?

I have had Michelin Commander 2s on a couple bikes and the mileage was fairly good (relative to Metzs, Avon’s and Dunlops), but they do have a tendency to “slip” in cold and wet conditions. Hopefully, the 3s fix that problem. I didn’t have that issue with the Avons.

Avons for me.
Never ran Metzlers so don't have an opinion.
I will NEVER run Michelins on any of my rolling stock - ever.
As for Avons, they run smooth and grip wet or dry - mileage don't mean as much to me as my life and my safety.

Got about 10K out of the C II and was expecting more.
The II’s are decent but are lacking in wet weather.

The C III’s are supposed to be an improvement over the II’s in wet weather but since they are so new there’s not much evidence of that yet.

I decided to go back to Dunlop as they have always performed well other than they are a tad soft so they don’t wear as well the C II’s do.
However I pick up my No Mar tire machine tomorrow so I can change them at my leisure.

Placed my “Elite” order with RevZilla today.
