Well I just looked into the 08 parts catalog and you can still buy s/e cams, exhausts and other performance parts, so somebody is full of crap

You can, indeed. For the '08s there are 49-state items, 50-state items and some California-specific items. It clearly states in the fine print that some combinations of big bore kits and 49-state or CAengines will void your warranty. Also, the CA mufflers for the '08s carry a higher price than the 49-state mufflers. Plus, many of the intake items, A/C, cams, etc., are only 50 state legal if used with the stock mufflers. All very complicated. If you live outside CA, you're in fat city. Inside CA, read the fine print and be prepared to pay a premium.

This is one of the reasons I am a member or the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association, These guys do a lot of thingsin Austinfor us Texas bikers. I urge all bikers in Texas to join...just $25 a year. Remember thereis strength in numbers. www.tmra2.org Iwould assume other states have something similar, and urge you to join too.

Don't blame California for all these EPA rules coming down the pipe. The papers were all signed in Switzerland 30 years ago. Read up on it and you'll see the future.
