Wondering what you all do to secure your bike when you're not around. Not at home when it's in your garage, though you could secure it there as well. I mean when you are at work or something and your bike is sitting in a parking lot all day. Myself, I have a older bike with just the mounts on the lower tree and the frame for a padlock. I don't use that but use a cable type bicycle lock that goes through the frame and a parking lot sign. Wondering if there is something better

I have insurance.

Sad to say, but if some dirtbag wants it bad enough, they’re gonna get it , Locks aren’t a guarantee.

I've got full coverage but I'd rather keep the bike.
i know practically nothing will hold up to a cutting wheel on a 4" battery powered grinder but I'd like to make it as hard as possible

Fork lock and a Kryptonite brake rotor lock. If I'm traveling, I cover the bike at night with a plain black cover to keep it from attracting unwanted attention.

Yes, I realize if someone wants it bad enough they'll get it, It doesn't mean I should make it easy, though.

if i gotta worry about it while i'm at work, i might think about getting a job in a better part of town...

as far as on the road, hd security, fork lock, empty all bags and make sure my insurance is paid up to date. have never had a problem, but that isn't to say that i won't.

Around 748,000 cars are stolen each year in the USA ... about 276,000,00 registered cars ( who knows how many unregistered cars ) ... About 46,500 motorcycles are stolen each year ... about 12,000,000 motorcycles are in the US ... Odds are they aren't going to get yours

I use the fork lock but I leave the ignition unlocked. I figure if some casual dirtbag is looking to steal a bike, they'll check the key switch and if it's unlocked, they'll jump on, fire it up and try to take off. Obviously, the fork lock will cause a significant problem but more importantly, the debacle should get attention. If I'm lucky, I'll be close enough by to run out and stomp a mud-hole out of 'em.

As noted... if they want it bad enough, they'll get it but the casual thief is generally pretty stupid.

I have a security system on my bike and enough insurance that I don't really have to worry about .

Of course , it would P** me off if something happened to it , but what can you do , You Can't Fix Stupid !

Yes , I do have an emotional attachment to my bike . and I don't let anyone sit on it without my permission .

If they want it they will take it no matter what you do. Some have lost their lives trying to protect their bikes. I just don't think it is worth that price. I leave my fob in my bike in an unlocked shed. If they want it let them take it.
