Ditch the bib and install a small luggage rack and saddlebag lid covers. Secure a 24" or 30" waterproof duffle across the back of your bike. That should give you the luggage space you need for touring.

^^^ This is the simplest and easiest answer.

If you take a half helmet it will fit in a saddlebag, at least mine does. But it takes up a lot if space so less room for other stuff.

I would put a luggage rack on for the trip. Remove the bib and put a solo rack on. Or as long as you have the 4 point docking hardware, you can get a cheap 2- up rack off ebay or amazon, and not have to remove the bib. When you get where you're going take it off for a clean look.

I bought a TourPak for my Heritage and put it there on daily rides. I used to use a helmet lock and attached it to the mirror stalk, passing the lock through the d-rings. If somebody wanted to steal it, they'd have to cut the strap, thus ruining the helmet. I also used a bungee net to carry my full-face helmet (backup for rain or cold) on top of luggage on long trips. You can see it in my "avatar".

I always thought cutting the strap ruined the helmet. After an accident in '07, the paramedics cut the straps on my helmet.

When I stopped by a tire shop to get some other things, and mentioned my accident and ruined helmet, the guy there claimed there is a way to fix the problem. He even offered he to do it for me.

Since my slide, of a few feet on my face, had ruined the face shield and scratched the face bar, I got a new helmet instead.

You get in a hail storm, about Colorado/Kansas or Mo., and you're gonna want that helmet.
Baseball sized hail is REALLY LOUD when it hits yer skull.
