Default Question... How do you secure your helmet???

What’s up guys and gals.... I have a question that’s been aching me for a couple weeks now. I have a 2017 Road King and have a single seat with an attached bib. I have extended bags and a module helmet (hopefully, I can attach a photo of bike as I’m not to tech worthy).

My build up off the question is.... Going on a road trip and going through some states that’s helmet required. When I pack I pack with the saddleback inner shells that to just pull out. So I have no luggage rack/back rest set up. Strictly clean.

So now the question... How do I secure or travel with my helmet when I am in states not required??? I have no place to put it securely where I feel comfortable.

Your thoughts your idea’s? I know that this probably isn’t a big deal and it’s an easy solution but as I rack my brains I can’t figure out a solution.

Thank you.

SP

Your head is the easiest option. Gives you not only protection for your head but quiets the wind noise tremendously. Wind noise on long distances can lead to hearing loss.

The other option is a detachable luggage rack. Get some kind of travel bag.

Like others said, I agree your head is the best place. However, to answer your question, if you can tollerate securing your helmet on top of your rear fender between the saddle bags for the trip, this product may be the solution. it comes in various sizes so best to go to their website to check them out: theperfectbungee.com.

Picked this up at Daytona Bike week. I plan to use it for my soft bag that goes on top of my TP luggage rack. I can see it holding your helmet securley, just get the correct size.

Might need to use a little padding to prevent any scratching of the bike or helmet.

I see from the photo that you already have the 4-pt quick detach kit on the bike.

I keep my helmet on my head. I got over the novelty of riding sans helmet many years ago.

You can ride "clean" or you can ride practical.

Riding clean, wear it or figure out some way to secure it to your rear fender. You might not like the results.

Riding practical, install a sissy bar and/or luggage rack to secure your helmet.

On long trips I brought 2 helmets. 1 full face for rain and highway travel and a half helmet for around town good weather. I wore one and used bungie cords to put the other helmet on top of the luggage. I found on long travel days it was good to switch helmets as having one on all day would hurt my forehead and start a headache. Probably both helmets don't fit perfect but I was surprised that happened and only happens after 4 to 5 hours.

Good luck and enjoy the trip.
