I have a boot fetish. Wore redwing king toes for awhile, but moved to timberland boondocks awhile ago, Insulated and non. Lots of guys at work going with keen safety toed boots. Some guys say they don't hold up. I am ok with that. I only care about comfort.

Another boot I miss and which I considered to be another of the most comfortable I'd ever worn, was the boondockers we were issued in the Navy ('80-'83). No padding anywhere, but the insole was somehow padded(?) just right so that when the all-leather uppers got broke in and the shoe polish kept them that way, they were cool in the summer (Indian Ocean for a month straight with no sight of land and hotter than a $2 pistol on a Saturday in Harlem!), and actually did a damned good job in winter...Scum Diego winter, but it was still pretty cold, enough so that my wool Peacoat was almost useless in it.

Those boondocker would last forever too if you kept polish on them regularly. I had the original pair I was issued in boot camp a year and a half on the ship I was stationed on (USS Berkeley DDG-15). Lots of salt water and in the air that ate leather up that wasn't taken care of. Man I miss those boots. Not sure what the Navy issues nowadays...probably some pink-colored tennis shoe with little purple dinosaurs on it to keep the crybabies happy. Yeah, went off-topic. They did away with the cracker jacks too I believe. Stupid Should Hurt.

Wolverines and Red Wings. They have lighter boots for warmer weather.

The Power Ranger boots just never caught on with me, even my many years on sport bikes. Hell, I think I still have my Alpinestar stuff, just never those boots

Danner FTW.

Goretex and leather. Made in the USA (Oregon). Careful when shopping there though as they have non-USA made cheap versions. But their high end stuff with goretex are typically made in USA. Very breathable with the goretex. I only wear Danner boots generally for riding, wrenching, yard work, etc. They have a pretty huge inventory but these are my go to summer boots.

Check out the new HD boot Lensfield. I got a pair for Father's Day from my dealer. I had searched on Revzilla for vented boots and didn't see anything promising. So far, I really like these boots as they flow a lot of air and are easy on/off. The sole is cushioned so they are very comfortable for walking too. Other than my 17RK - it's the only HD accessory item I own and I'm very happy with them. My dealer has a rewards program so I paid under $140 including tax.

I am a firm believer in socks also. As I am getting older I am wanting to wear more safety gear. Last year I bought a pair of Forma Adventure boots. I bought the tall pair that comes just below the knee. They have a shell that protects the shin. That being said I had to buy taller socks. I got several pair of Alpine star bike socks for wearing this size boot. Relatively cheap at 9.00 a pair, so I got 4 pair. Good thing because they are no longer being made. Anyway, I can wear these boots in any temp and feel comfortable. I went for about a 250 mile ride today in the heat and humidity and my feet felt comfortable. When I got home and took the socks off, they were damp with sweat, which means the socks did their job and wicked the moisture off my feet and legs. By the way, I am also wearing knee pads that go over the socks as well so some of that moisture in the socks came from wearing the knee pads.

Merino wool socks are good in the heat, and soft. With a vented boot you can wear a heavier sock too. They are not cheap. But keep me going.
