Kick only 1.5 belt drive. Look how much easier it is to get to whats left.
i dont like when you decide what I should do with my bike. Should I have say so on weather you have a silly set of extended bags or a distracting radio and the extra weight of the radio speakers and fairing?

easy man .
No intent to dog anyone's choices...it's not how "I" roll
Besides "cool factor" (and I'm cool with cool factor for no other reason than cool factor) and have my own "cool factor" stuff and don't GAS if anyone else thinks cool or not....
I was curious if there were any mechanical advantages ...(thanks Ole Skewl for some insight)
and they do look like the potential to take a bite out a leg is present and very real fo-sho

I have no idea what you were trying to convey here. Apparently others did. LOL. Chill?
OP, good question. I agree, they are cool. I have to think that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages for a bike that you want to ride regularly. Cool is cool, but form over function isn't, necessarily.

You might want to consider doubling up on your meds! 😅
I've run one. It was on the hardtail I built . Which is my avatar. I did it to be different. The same reason I ran a magneto with a battery eliminator. The drive looked cool and kinda scary. Sure was a wide thing tho, a 3" Primo.

[QUOTE=Oldskewl;19213498]Look at the primary case of a post 65 bike compared to a M8 or TC. Huge difference
" Tin" primaries like your pic were replaced by cast aluminum on big twins with the advent of electric start in `65
IIRC the tank shift option was available until the early `70`s

and side note....donno about anyone else, but being the absent minded clutz I am....
they scare the 'ell out of me and look like an accident waiting to happen

I agree. Best way to make a hot rod or a garage qween. I have a old high school buddy. Talk with him on Facebook once in a while. He collects Harleys. Told me since it takes the compensator out, that ridding down the interstate is like a funny jerky fill. I have never rode one myself but that compensator is on there for a reason
If all you want is a cool looking bar bike, go for it. Let us know what you think.
