The biggest value in HOG is the local chapter if there is one in your area. Lots of like minded bike riding members, chapter rides and chapter functions. Being a member is like going to a buffet join/do as much or as little as you like. In our chapter we only see some members for the crayfish boil and Christmas party. Some attend every event and ride. Give your local chapter a chance. To some of our members it's opened a whole new world of friends and events to attend. In addition the HOG towing coverage has helped many stranded riders.
Worth whatever you feel it’s worth. Spend the $50 and get the magazine and the few discounts the card can get you including free admission to the Harley Museum. Or go out one night and throw away $50 on drinks that you **** into the urinal before you even make it home. Spend it on the membership or somewhere else. Your gonna spend it somewhere either way.
I rode through Tonawanda last year, stayed overnight there too, and visited the HD Museum for free too. Ya, just not sure if I'd be missing much if I let it expire... Dutchy
yes yes yes ..I tour across the US often. I've been a member for 21 years and I go with the plus service. I've had my bike towed 150 miles from Quartzite AZ back to Phoenix and it didn't cost me a single penny. If you tour you should have that membership. If you only stay around town and don't go a long way from home it's up to you. I've also had tire blow outs and they towed me to a shop late at night. I would highly recommend it.
I'm a life member but I've never affiliated with a local chapter and never will. But the roadside assistance for flat tires or running out of gas are great reasons. Also the discount on fly and ride bike rentals if you're the traveling type. Lastly, I get a 10% discount on my bike insurance.

My membership (Canadian) is currently due and I've only been a member since the purchase of my new 2018 Ultra Ltd. I'm wondering if it is really worth it? I mean the map book is nice, but not much has changed, so it's not really that outdated...etc. How many here are members and what is the reason(s) that you are? Dutchy
If you don't keep it, I'd recommend some type Roadside Assistance.
Nothing like trying to 'push' a 900+ # motorcycle.
Never can tell when a:
wheel bearing will go out or
run out of gas or
flat tire or
key fob battery will go out (or get lost) or
something electrical will short out.
Any of the above can and do happen at the
most inopportune times.
Especially late in the evening or on a Sunday afternoon.

run out of gas or ran out of gas once, learned my lesson on pushing it 'just a little further' won't do that again
flat tire or that's why i keep a stop n go plug kit on the bike, used it for others, never for myself, so far
key fob battery will go out (or get lost) or good god, please, learn how to use the override code
something electrical will short out.

had hog for a few years (a long while back). found that i get just as good a cell phone discount through aarp or my work. i have towing and trip interruption on my insurance which is just as good, or better, than the hog plan. besides which the one time that i needed it, hog could not get me a tow. spent 6 hrs on the side of the road while my wife went home and got the truck and trailer. the hog 'events' are very overpriced, imo.
so, for me, once the 'freebie' expires, i let it lapse. i get no benefit. esp. since you no longer get the road atlas.
