Default Average repair time

I got ran off the road by a drunk driver on 24 May. Got my 2017 Softail Slim S into the shop the first week of June. I was told at the get go it would be a month or month and a half for parts. Which was understandable. Now I’m being told it might not be until September until my bike is finished. Is this a normal wait time because of Covid right now?

Pretty much. There have been increased wait times across the board. I assume you’re waiting on painted parts as well?

Even before Covid if you are waiting on painted parts from the Motor company you were in for a wait. When I toured the Factory in York last year they said they only paint repair parts order in between paint runs for production bikes

If the bike is vivid black you may get a surprise and get parts earlier than that but if it's a color they didn't run a lot of it always has taken a long time to get painted parts from Harley. The Covid situation only makes it worse. Good luck with getting her back on the road.

I need a replacement engine. HD told my tech that the cylinder walls and pistons for my bike are back ordered until Sept. Thankfully, my dealership had the alternative Stage III kit in stock and we are putting that in as a replacement.

The supply chain in just about every industry is sideways these days.

Are there alternatives you can get or source?

Also, super glad you are here to be bitching about your parts my friend. The parts thing sucks....but you are alive! That's pretty cool.

Your main issue, as stated above, are parts. I had to wait 6 weeks for a simple fuel filter. Fortunately this is not a must have part right now, just a service item I wanted to replace. Yeah, this chinese flu crap has everything all screwed up.

Default Painted Parts

I have the Olive/Gold/Denim paint. So I know it’s going to take a while. Here she is after the wreck.

Have them fix it mechanically enough to ride, and just motor on with the dented tank. Tell them to call you when the parts come in and bring it back for them to finish.

Here in Flint, Mi they are telling me 1.5 months just for a new back tire. Service dept has a major back log due to COVID. 😤
