Been to the rally twice. Best part was riding the canyons. I’m not into crowds, so I didn’t spend much time in the town of Sturgis or the campgrounds. I stayed at Recreational Springs in Lead, SD. Nice place.

Had a wonderful time. Got to Sioux falls on the 4th. Stayed the night there. Left Sioux falls after visiting the park and the dealer. Got to the Missouri river and decided to take the 2 lanes instead. What a wonderful idea. Got to the badlands around 6pm local time. Ate dinner in wall. Hit the badlands and pitched my tent on the side of some dirt road. Woke up to a buffalo standing 30yrds from my tent. What a great way to start the day. Toured the badlands and headed to my campground. Set up camp about 3:00. Got an early dinner and went to town this was Thursday afternoon. Walked around a little bit and headed back to camp. Got up early Friday and hit the road about 10. Put on about 300 miles going to Mt Rushmore and all the surrounding areas. What a beautiful way to spend the day. Saturday went to the other side of town. Deadwood was hopping. Ended the day with about another 400 miles. I guess you could say I saw all the tourist traps. Went to town after a shower bought a couple t-shirts, picked up a pizza and back to camp. Headed home Sunday got home Monday night about midnight. Had a wonderful time. Ready to go again. By the way this was my first trip out there. I went solo.

+1 for Topless Tuesday (Alzada). Took some friends up that had never been there b4. We'll never go back to Hulett on Weds.
About the same size crowd as last year, like that a lot.

I’ve been there twice from Pa. Both times I went pre week and left the day after the official start. I don’t give a crap about the bands so I didn’t miss out on them. Still plenty of bikes and events so still has the Sturgis feeling. Just tons nicer to get around and see the sights without all the mess

There were fewer campers at Lamphere CG, but traffic wherever I went was heavy.

We made it up there on the 7th and thought it was busier than we had seen the last few years. Got stuck behind an accident on Hiway 385 for about an hour on Saturday and made some new friends. Over all we had a great time, glad we went. Looking forward to next year.

I think they've cooked the numbers for years, including extending the rally to 10 days. I don't think there's any way that any recent years, including the 75th, were as large as the early-mid 2000s.

For those of you that like to go to Sturgis the week before the Rally starts, it does still look pretty exciting. Yes, this Webcam photo was 8/3/20. Which one of you is that riding through the intersection?

"South Dakota Department of Transportation officials tracked more than 462,000 vehicles entering Sturgis during the rally. Though the total was a 7.5% decline from the previous year, it is still one of the largest mass gatherings since the start of the pandemic."
