oh its much higher than 70 for sure. but no worries only 180k have died right? I guess unless a family member doesn't drop dead then f@@k covid right? I wonder how many of the 180k that died were exposed from the f@@k it crowd. oh..and the hurt on our businesses in hot spots while the f@@k crowd walk by on their way to the crowded beach.... wow
if we practiced common decency toward each other and followed science and not have politicized this pandemic we would be much better off ... in terms of deaths and our economy... but you know we got the f@@k it club out there. A 100 people can cause 20k cases across the country... how many of those 20k could die? It's a shame the lack of common decency we show to each other in this country
Followed Science? Remember - science used to proclaim the world was flat. Science will figure this out but the pandemic will have been over by the time a vaccine is safely tested. Its nature and you cant fight nature sometimes.

You can fight stupidity though. Scientists have offered the best recommendations for this unknown virus. And in turn, those scientists are regularly disparaged ... but yet we are relying on them to save our *** with a vaccine. Meanwhile a significant amount of the population is acting irresponsibly. Causing more harm to fellow citizens and our economy. There is no excuse to be where we are at now... other countries infection rate were on par with the US and they have done a much better job. We can do better and it's not too late to start.
I read somewhere that the largest attendance ever for he Sturgis rally was the 75th in 2015 at 739,000!
My first rally was the 49th and I (we ) enjoyed it so much that we retured for the 50th in 1990 (I actually made two trips out that year), the 60th, the 61st, and the 70th!!!
As I remember (I could be wrong) the town crown in Sturgis seemed larger than any other than I have attended and the temperartures seemed higher to me for the 60th and 61st but it could be that I'm just getting older and softer.
How many people have died this year from car accidents? All are avoidable, after all....
Look, ALL death is tragic to the families impacted. But you and those panicked fools like you act like if we'd all just wear masks and hide in our basements for a couple years, this would just go away - that ALL COVID deaths were and are completely avoidable. And that's just complete BS. Even assuming the 170,000 number is COMPLETELY LEGIT (big assumption), how many families would you starve out to "feel safe"? How many families must be unemployed, wondering where their next meal is coming from or who's going to pay their mortgage next month? 45 million?
I'm not afraid of getting the goddamn virus. I dont doubt it's existence, and I don't doubt it's worse than seasonal flu - I just don't fear dying. From COVID or many other things. If you (or others like you) are afraid you'll get it from me, STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM ME! Take responsibility for your own health! Quit pretending that somehow, YOUR health is MY responsibility. Because it's not.

See, here we go again with your sides arrogance... failing to follow what you believe doesn't make us "stupid".
Comparing to "other countries" relies on "other countries" being identical in many variables - none of which they are.
Wear an N95 mask. Stay indoors as much as humanly possible. As "deadly" as this virus is, it'll only be a couple months and the rest of us should be either immune or dead. Meanwhile, leave us alone.

And there you go... thanks for proving my point. Lack of common decency.
More than 70 cases of covid linked to Sturgis this year.
Concerns of it becoming a super spreader event
I think it has a ways to go to become a super spreader event. Of course, the media wants you to think that it was a disaster:
Hysteria anyone? Health experts' fears about the hundreds of thousands of bikers who descended on South Dakota for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the middle of a pandemic are coming true. At least 100 coronavirus cases in eight states are believed to be linked to the 10-day motorcycle event earlier this month, according to The Associated Press. South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming and Washington state health departments all have reported cases.
Assume a low number of 250k Sturgis attendees. That would equate to 400 cases per million people. The US is currently at 18,000 cases per million. All those people at Sturgis better get their $hit together and start infecting others if they are going to make the media's claims become reality instead of just overblown fear mongering.
I am looking forward to going next year which will be my first visit. Thank you to those of you that shared stories, it gives me places to add to my list of must visits when i attend. I am planning on staying in or around Deadwood. As for Covid- F IT, we don't close our country down for the flu which kills thousands every year among other virus that have come to the USA. A vaccine will likely be just the the flu vaccine where they are hit or miss each year and never really "cure" the virus so i don't understand all the panic over this. I don't doubt that it exists but I do doubt the positive case and death counts being broadcasted, I think the actual numbers are much lower. The good news is I think it will be cured sometime in early November.

You're not going to convince him. He's one of the many "I'm skeered, so do what I think is right or I'll call you an idiot".
