I recently purchased a 2006 HD electra glide ultra classic. It has a weird issue with the paint. When it is wet I see these ghost images of spots. When it's dry they virtually disappear. Has any body seen this kind of thing or have a clue what it might be? Ghost spots when the paint is damp. Dried and buffed off with a microfiber towel.
And what you are seeing Is the moisture under the clearcoat after you wash it. If you continue to wash the bike in the sun . evaporation of the water getting caught under the clearcoat will continue to make those grow larger and larger .
You will know if this is the problem soon because one of those will pop open and the clearcoat will start pealing off .

I think you're right. I assume I have to sand the clear coat off down to the color and then clear coat it again in order to fix it?
By the way thank all of you for your replies and welcoming statements. I'm 60 yrs old and this is the first Harley I have ever owned. I'm super proud of it. It's my baby and I think my wife is a little jealous. She's asking for equal time. 🤔
If you've got time to spend on it, try the clay bar, if that doesn't do it, treat it like how you would address a clear coat scratch: Try a proper polish (not a wax), if still there, a rubbing compound. So you're slowly increasing the abrasion, just to see if that saves a re-coat. You can even take it to a fine grade of wet 1500 or 2000 paper. The shine comes back with a polish and waxing. Pick a small patch in a less visible area, to experiment.
Try the clay bar
if it didnt remove it
Try clear coat compound
Just a curiosity question - for you guys who recommended sand paper, have you actually done this? Successfully? I dont know a soul who has... Just curious as to exactly the method. I have an old 550/4 im debating about doing this on and everyone tells me not to..
