Why are so many people worried about EFI? I've owned lots of bikes, some with carbs, some with EFI. The EFI on any of my bikes has never once broke and left me stranded. The only time I ever had any problem at all with EFI was an 03 Road King where the fuel line inside the tank rubbed and developed a hole in the line. So technically the EFI was still operating, it just wasn't getting proper fuel pressure and as long as I kept the tank filled above the hole it ran well enough to limp along until I got the fuel line replaced.
Now carbs are a different story. Jetting can be an issue if you swap air filters and pipes. Let one sit too long with gas in it and it plugs up the jets, the floats start sticking. There's plenty that can go wrong with a carb.
