I prefer the ff helmet and wear one 75% of the time. Cheryl hated them, and it was like pulling teeth to get her to wear one. That along with gloves and armored pants. Until recently that is. She had a get off on a bike and scraped her knee very badly. Turned into a serious infection that landed her in the hospital. Had she been wearing the Kevlar jeans I was begging to buy her, she would have been fine. She now understands the importance of ATGATT because even a simple off can have dire consequences (ask Gary Busey).

I have never tried a half. But my vented FF are cooler, as long as I am moving, then just standing in the summer sun/heat here in the desert.

The breeze over the top of my heat, damp from perspiration after stopping for a long light, feels good.

Sorry to hear that Bob. I hope that hasn't dampened her enthusiasm for riding, we need to see pics of her on her new Guzzi next spring!

No sir, she's still enthusiastic. She's a tough cookie. And yes, the V7 is still a plan. Pics to follow.

Man, have I been wrong about full faced helmets, this thing was awesome! I picked up the Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS that included a photochromatic shield (transitions lens). I really like the auto tinting shield, no need to worry about changing shields or glasses when going from dark to light or vice versa. If I had one dig on it, and it's minor, I wish it would get a bit darker. When riding directly into the sun I would have liked the tint to be a bit more dark. Other then that I have no complaints. The helmet is only about 3.5 pounds, really no different then my 1/2 helmet as far as strain on my neck. I also rigged up my headset which allowed me to clearly listen to the radio and make phone calls with no problems.

I'll still use the 1/2 helmet for around town and shorter rides, but longer rides will definitely throw on the full faced.

This was the helmet I bought.

How do you find it after month of riding? I have unpacked the same eventually, tried it on highway today. For me it sits tightly, visor does not vibrate in turbulence, internal air flow is good, but whole helmet is very noisy. A bit heavier in hands, but I do not feel its weight on the head. And it looks good.

Helmet technology / material has improved significantly over the past 10 years. I have a full face SHOEI with pinlock and a chin curtain. Can't hear a thing but my own thoughts while riding...could be frightening at times. My modular is a Schuberth C4 PRO....great fit and finish and very quiet for a modular.
Ride safe and enjoy.

I went with a modular helmet a couple of years ago, Shoei Neotec. The reason for modular over ff was so I could lift the chin bar to take a sip of water. I go out for 500 mile rides on weekends and need to keep hydrated. Easier with a modular and safer than a half. I find I am buying more and more safety gear as I get older.

I don't think that he ever answered you but I make the trip between Indiana and Florida and Tennessee and Georgia have helmet laws. One particular traffic jam in Atlanta got me to switch from Full Face to a modular

Amazon sells Kabuto helmets. Not sure I want to trust a $69 helmet, though.

10 years ago I bought a ff just for winter riding. I figured it would be warmer than my 1/2. I pretty much wear it 100% of the time now. I don't like the look of my bike
with a windshield but I needed one to keep my 1/2 from parachuting on the hiway. With the FF I only use the windshield when I'm going to be spending hours on the slab.
I have a Shoei. Really no issue with peripheral vision except when backing the bike. Not a huge issue though.
