Still like it. I've read where others say its noisy but I disagree, I had no problem hearing my radio through the fairing speakers.

Exactly. Full face helmets make me claustrophobic. I'm toying with the idea of getting a Bell Riot open face. That's about as far as I can go. It's real similar to the Bell Custom 500, but it has the full shield.

I have medium windshield, not a fairing. Second day I have my ears aching, this never happened with me before even with cheapest helmets like MTR or LS2. Aren't FF helmets supposed to work on naked bikes?
So I just ordered goggles for my H-D (Bell 500) helmet, and I will sell that Bell Qualifier on local online flea market

I have been considering a FF modular but was concerned about peripheral as well. For summer I have my 1/2 and for winter and trips my 3/4. On the open road, with ear plugs, my 3/4 seems to get somewhat noisier. I have been toying with a different windshield or a new helmet. Not sure which route to take or if it really makes a difference. Wind noise is wind noise. I know, if I want quite take my truck. My 3/4 is ARAI and is very comfortable.

Today's FF and modular helmets have a viewport big enough that peripheral vision isn't an issue. No more looking like Gort from "The Day The Earth Stood Still".

There's a big difference between a naked bike and being behind a windshield.

On a naked bike the FF is a great way to go and reduces wind noise. But in most cases ear plugs are still needed.

On a bike with fairing or windshield the wind noise is reduced. But you still have a lot of other noises like car tires and your bikes exhaust. The windshield can actually magnify that sound and direct it at a full face helmet, which results in booming low tones and the effects of turbulence.

When I'm on my FJ09 with my head in the wind the FF is the only way to go and it's reasonably quiet. But on my Street glide with fairing and windshield, the ff is actually louder than a half helmet due to the low tones and increased buffeting noise. And yes, it is properly fited with a very good chin curtain and foam below the ears.

Cheap helmets are loud. Loose helmets are loud. Make sure the thing fits you properly and that it's decently constructed.

Back in the day, (and by that I mean the '60's), I had a 3/4 and a bubble shield. I didn't start out with the shield, but one day I took a bird to the head, and bird guts and blood and **** will change your mind about no face protection pretty quick.

I had a one-piece FF, and then I tried a modular. Done. I'll never wear anything else.

You can pop the chinbar up for a conversation, or when filling up, or when you're putzing around in town. Crack the visor open if it's hot. Best of all worlds.

I've had a Shoei Neotech for several years, and love it.

Bird strikes suck. My dad told me when I was a kid that when you ride a bike, it's just a mater of time before you hit a bird while riding on the highway.
I have been riding since I was little, and on the highway since age 18...didn't hit a bird until this October. A pheasant came out of the ditch near Sandpoint, Idaho and hit square on the top of my fairing while I was going 75. If I had not ducked I would be in the same situation you were in. I was wearing my skull cap at the time.

That bastard put the first scratches on my batwing! Pisses me off
