You won't very many acres of corn in WV. Almost all the roads follow the terrain (hills, hollows, creeks, ridges, etc) and there are basically no grid-system roads anywhere. The state is quite challenged economically. If there's a downside to riding in WV it's that some of the state routes get to the point of being in terrible shape before they finally get reworked. If you like your riding and roads to be extremely rural, WV will satisfy that.

6 of us did a 3 day ride to Staunton VA around 2010 so we could come back through Shenandoah National Park! Got on WV 250 which continued into VA 250 to Staunton. We got into 10 miles of gravel chip road repairs!! Nobody went down but it took a while to get over that. The Park was Great!!

We have a place, and will move there soon. Still has winter and deer though.
I'd rather deal with the deer...they make more sense than the idiots driving now.

Yeah, but my property taxes were jacked up sky high. There is no free lunch.

Yes, good stuff.
I have come to the conclusion that above 40 and in between hwy 23 to hwy 7 , there is not a bad road.

I retired at 52 and moved from Niagara Falls to Arizona specifically for the year round riding weather. I average 20-25K per year, riding all over AZ, NV, NM, CO, WY, & SD.

We did that this year in June, did a modified version of the “Moonshine Run”. The roads around there seem to be in good shape.
