Indian in memphis just closed, was open about a year. closest is 150 miles now. They are not thriving
I don't about that dealership but, I live in Osceola Wisconsin where they manufacture all the motors for Indian motorcycles, With Harley making 147K motorcycles last year, and even less this year, Indian isn't very far behind those numbers.

You need some perspective. Polaris groups Slingshot, Indian, and PG&A, when reporting the numbers on their Motorcycle division. That division each quarter on average is equal to or less than what Harley makes per quarter with P&A. When you throw in the G portion of Harley's numbers it makes the difference is scale really stand out.

That's great for Polaris for being diversified and not being dependent on one vertical. HD is desperately trying to claw their way into Adventure, Electric, Power Cruiser now which is great as well. I want Polaris/Indian to thrive to have a good option and to keep HD on their toes. The Indian stores are nice and remind me of HD stores years ago. These HD dealers that built the mega stores never imagined the demand for Harleys would dwindle. They thought that the MoCo would continue to flood them with inventory, which, will happen again but maybe not soon enough for some struggling mega stores.
Dealerships have been opening and closing for like a hundred years
i had to laugh when I read this, because, it's literally true...not sure why it struck me as funny
trimming bad performers is never an easy thing for anyone involved, including the mother ship....at some point, they look at these relationships and have to decide....is it worth it?...and it goes both ways

I doubt Indian makes and sell more than 20% of what HD does. I had two Indians, 2014 Vintage and a 2015 Chieftain. Love my 2021 Heritage Softail Classic.
Just received the email this afternoon, Rommel HD in Annapolis, MD is closing on December 10, 2021.
Heard that today. That leaves 2 dealers in the Baltimore metro area now. You now will have to travel at least 35 to 75 miles to the next closest dealer from the metro area. I still chose to travel 65 miles to All American in Hughsville. I've had good experiences with them and hope they won't be one of the next casualties of MOCO directives
