Vaguely remember you saying 'NEW' to HD? But old as dirt :-)

I bought a brand new Softail Christmas eve of 84' 85 model.
It was a whopping 9100 OTD. Paid cash.

MOST of my long time riding buddies declared I was CRAZY! WHY would I pay so much for the 'brand' as a
KZ900 could be had for 12- 1500 (had a 78' (?) I bought for a buck a cc.
The guys that went with me on the test ride when the EVO's came out also bought new within 1 year!

Had it for 15 years. Bought a 2000' still have it and it is a MUCH better bike than the 85'
My 2020 is even better still but I enjoy a spin on the TC and think ' this is a nice bike'.

No point to make ,just blabbering MY OPINION's on the ol' web.

Also Hate baggers. Does that **** you off?

Heading back to Denver from FL on the 20th. You think I'll be able to do some riding???
54 here today so just watching some football.

JM
**** me off? Not in the least. I much prefer a Softtail Heritage FLSTS Springer circa 1998 year, or a Road King. My only need for a bagger is touring with my wife of 53 years. With a bagger we can carry fingernail polish, hair brushes. clean underwear, etc.
As far as motorcycle riding, I am a "profiler". How I go is as important as where I go.
Can't tell if the weather will be any good on the front range after the 20th. IIRC the temps on the Front Range have been in the 40s-50s over the last week. Here in the mountains the highs have been in the 30s and right now it is snowing and in the teens.

Opinions vary. I walk out in the garage to just stare at my mostly stock 2020, like I did the first time I saw it in the showroom. Anything but bland, but that’s just me.

If you don't like the looks of the new bikes, buy an old one.

You want flashy buy a 70s era "full dresser".

So, now that I am a newbie, nothing I can say has any merit or insight. So be it.

I did purchase an older FLHTCUI 1998. I shopped new and used before settling on the bike that I acquired. The EVO engine is as far back as I care to go.

Uncle Larry, I just did not put any emoticons in my reply. Upon re-reading it, my post does sound kind of a smartass reply. I did not mean for it to taken in that light.

I had a 1993 FLHTCU ... Nice scooter ... the prices on the new ones are more than I care to spend

You know everyone bitches about price but are they really that out of line? No more expensive than Indians bikes are and adjusted for inflation no different than they ever have been. For example the msrp for a 2000 ultra classic was just shy of 20k. Adjusted for inflation that is just under 30k. That's on par with what they cost now. And you have to admit you get a lot more features on that than you did 20 years ago.

Everybody will get over it Wes. We all get sideways here from time to time. Sometimes for the stupid **** sometimes not.
