Beautiful bike !!! A Panhead project would keep you busy for quite some time hunting down parts and going to swap meets. That's half the fun tracking down parts and restoring them. Again very nice bike ! Wish it was mine.

That old girl cleaned up real nice. I have been itching for a new project too, I wish I could afford to do an HD but I'll have to stick to the old 80s metric bikes. I like to find them dirt cheap and see how far I can take them on a razor thin budget. I re-did a 1980 Yamaha last year that turned out ok, all in I had just under $500 in the bike after it was done. And that included $138 for a title transfer. It was no where near as nice as your project but I liked it and when it was all said and done I made a little spending money when I sold it.

Agreed! But, I will tell you the last 2 Metrics I did - The bike Im on now is a 74 Honda 550/4 that was given to me and in ok shape. Im at the 2800.00 mark doing most of the work myself. Soooo, Im 2800 in on a 3200 bike. But its a keeper. ALot of orig parts on these got really expensive. HD stuff is coming out to be cheaper!

Back in 2014 I bought an 88 CBR 1000 Hurricane for 1500.00... I was 5k in and not done. I cut my losses and bought a WideGlide. The cases needed to be split as theres an internal chain that has notorious issues and 3 months into ownership it was making a racket.

Nice bike < I totally agree with your wife you need 4 to 5 bikes. In the last 20 years I have done a few pans, and shovels almost made a business out of it. You could find old bikes that needed work for a fair price now people think they are an investment, they over pay for them. So the ones that I have restored not always stock I liked the best were 66 to 69 FL's. I got an EVO in the garage now.
