Batteries for Harley’s at Rural King made by Exide are still $92. Why on Earth anyone would go a different route is still beyond me. Plus you can use your tender/charger without adverse effects!

Before driving there I just checked RK's website and the one (Part Number: SC30LFA) they list for my Road King 1690 is "discontinued no longer available".

Hmmm, this slipped through unnoticed so far. Maybe this "bump" will help get an answer.

Well, I live in a hot climate and am tired of changing out 1920s technology lead batteries out every two years. I really looked into getting a LI battery this time. I did NOT get one. For the price point, the benefit is not there yet. Maybe in a couple more years.

Our motorcycle only charge while the engine is running and there is a draw on the system. Even then the regulator controls the charging system to keep from over charging.

The only time I use the Shorai charger is when the battery was seating "idle" for a long time. Normally the bike charging system is enough to charge the battery.

The problem with trickle chargers is that they never stop, their current level is unstable, in particular the cheaper ones.

That`s not the answer to my question...

I know how the motorcycle charging system works.

The charging system output is relative to the resistance in the battery. It doesn`t know if the engine is running or not.

The charging system puts out 13.5-14.5 volts, the amperage will vary depending on the resistance of the battery. It doesn`t know if the battery is an AGM, a Lithium, or a lead acid.

Yes.

Karma, kismet, fate, luck of the draw, whatever, good reason to give up vaping.
